Fun Wedding Guest Book Alternatives with a Photo Booth
Updated: Mar 16
If you're trying to come up with a fun alternative idea for your wedding "guest book", this post has a couple of ideas! They both require the use of a photo booth, a service that we offer here at Lujan Entertainment in the DC/MD/VA region, but most other photo booths should be able to accommodate these ideas as well.
Photo Booth Prints
With the use of a photo booth that offers printing, you can set up a guest book with plastic sleeves to slide in the photo booth print outs, and have your guests leave notes next to their prints! There are different books that fit different sizes of prints, usually 2 x 6 inch (Amazon link) or 4 x 6 inch (Amazon link).
If the photo booth service comes with a dedicated attendant, you can have that attendant help the guests and instruct them on putting their print and note in the guest book. The attendant can also help the guests print an extra copy of their photo for them to keep! This is how we do it at Lujan Entertainment.
Video Guest Book
For photo booths that offer video capturing (like ours can do), a video guest book is a great alternative! Also known as "confessionals", it's similar to those novelty phones that let guests leave audio messages for the newlyweds, but adds video on top of that!
Ours works by having the guests tap the screen to start, and then the video starts recording. A microphone on a stand is set up, which is what the guests talk in to leave their message. After the wedding, the newlyweds have access to all of the videos. This is how a lot of photo booth companies do video guest books (ours included), but there are many other kinds of booths that may work differently.
Depending on the company, it's usually possible to add a custom overlay graphic that matches your theme and colors! With us, we do that by asking for a copy of your RSVPN or invitation and try to match that theme.
